How To Download Pan Card?

Pan, the abbreviation for Permanent Account Number as the name suggests is a permanent account with a 10 digit account number that keeps tracks of all the financial transactions that are made by the individual or the organisation. The possession of Pan card is a must that all tax paying citizens of India adhere to. The main aim behind the introduction and issue of such a card was to prevent individuals from paying tax. The Pan card is also a universally accepted form of proof for any kind of application. In fact students can even use a Pan card as a proof while applying for loans. There are two major government websites that lets you apply for the Pan card namely the UTIITSL (UTI Infrastructure Technology and Service limited) and the NSDL (National Security Depository Limited). Applicants can apply a Pan Card from either of these websites by filling the application form. Generally the time taken for the physical hardcopy of the Pan card to be delivered to the applicant to the mentioned address is 45 days from the day of application. 

How To Download Pan Card Online?

The Finance Ministry of India recently introduced the facility of instant Pan card via e- KYC using e- Aadhaar. This initiative was taken by the government of India to promote paperless documents. The e – Pan is also accepted as a proof, in fact it is as valid as the normal physical Pan card. e- Pan is a virtual Pan card that can be applied for from either of the websites – NSDL or UTIITS. This card can be used for e – document verification requiring a Pan card. But people should keep in mind that if you already have a Pan card you should apply for e -Pan using the same number and not for a new Pan. Possession of two different Pans is punishable by law.  Just like the physical Pan card that has a number of details on it the e- Pan card is also furnished with the same details. Listed below are the details that will be present on the e- Pan card. 

  • Permanent Account Number

  • Date of Birth

  • Photograph

  • Father’s Name

  • Gender

  • QR Code

  • Signature

How To Download Pan Card?

There are a number of ways to apply for the e- Pan some via the NSDL portal and others via UTIITSL portal. There are two ways to apply for e- pan on the NSDL portal – one is using the acknowledgement number and the other via Pan number. The former is a method that can be used by those who have applied for a new Pan card while the latter can be used by those who already have a Pan card and are now applying for just the e- Pan. The applicants who have applied for Pan using the NSDL portal can download e- Pan from this portal with ease. Using the UTIITSL portal has more procedures as applicants need to opt for the reprint of the Pan card to be able to download the e- Pan. NSDL does not charge any amount for the users to download e – Pan while UTIITSL charges an amount of Rs. 8.26 which can be paid using online payment modes.

How To Download Pan Card Online Using an Acknowledgement Number ?

This is the first method of applying for e- Pan card. This is a method that can be used by those who are applying for a new Pan card. But to be able to apply for e- Pan using this method users need to be in possession of the acknowledgement number. 

How To Get Acknowledgement Number Of Pan Card? The Pan card acknowledgement number is a 15 digit number that an applicant receives on submitting the application form on either the NSDL and UTIITSL. To get the acknowledgement number, a person needs to submit the application form to either NSDL or UTIITSL. On successful submission the authorities would issue the acknowledgement number to the email id provided by the applicant in the application form. 

 Listed below are the steps that need to be followed to be able to download e- Pan using acknowledgement number.

  • Visit the NSDL Acknowledgement number portal that will let you download e- pan using acknowledgement number

  •  Enter the Acknowledgement number that was issued after submitting the PAN card application 

  • Click on “Generate OTP”

  • You will receive the OTP to your mobile number that you had given on the application 

  • Enter the OTP 

  • Click on Validate

  • Now click on the Download PDF option to download the ePAN.

How To Download Pan Card Using Mobile Number?

In all the methods you will need to have a mobile number that you have either given in the application form or have registered with the Pan card. It is generally to this number that the OTP is generated. Sometimes the OTP will also be generated to your email id. The next method to download an e- Pan via NSDL portal is using your Pan card details by name and date of birth and Pan number. Given below are the steps that need to be followed to download e- Pan using Pan number.

  • Visit the NSDL e- Pan Download portal. 

  • A number of details will be asked – Pan number, Aadhaar number, Date of Birth and GTSN (though this is optional)

  • Type in the security number given there 

  • Click on Submit

  • Now you can download e – Pan.  

How To Download Pan Card Online Via UTIITSL?

UTIITSL is yet another government website that lets you download e- Pan card. Follow the steps below that will guide you through the process of downloading e – Pan card.

  • Visit the UTIITSL e- Pan Downloading Portal

  • A number of details will be required – Pan number, date of birth, GSTIN 

  • You will be needed to enter the Security number 

  • A new page will open with all the details regarding your Pan card including your mobile number and email. Check if these are correct

  • You will be given the option of receiving OTP to either mobile number or email. Choose either of those 

  • You will receive the OTP

  • Enter the OTP

  • Click on submit

  • On submitting you will be able to download the e- Pan 

In case  the PAN was issued more a month ago, the user will be required to make an online payment of Rs. 8.26

How To Download Pan Card If Lost?

In case you lose your Pan card you can apply for a duplicate Pan Card that is reprint your Pan Card using Aadhaar card. This is a facility that is offered by NSDL. Follow the steps below to request a reprint of the Pan card.

  • Visit the NSDL portal for reprinting Pan card

  • A number of details will be required – Pan number, date of birth, GSTIN (optional)

  •  Read the declaration carefully

  • Click on the Check Box – tick mark to proceed further

  • You will now need to enter the captcha code 

  • Click on Submit

  • A new page will open with all the details regarding your Pan card including your mobile number and email. Check if these are correct

  • You will be given the option of receiving OTP to either mobile number or email. Choose either of those 

  • You will receive the OTP

  • Enter the OTP

  • Click on submit

  • Your request for a reprint of the Pan card will be submitted with the NSDL
