How To Get UAN Number – Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12 digit number provided to each member of the Employees’ Provided Fund Organisation (EPFO). This number helps them to check their PF accounts. The number is issued by the Ministry of Employment and Labour under the Government of India. The number allows the members to segregate all their PF accounts with multiple IDs of different organizations in one place. With the help of UAN, the employee can also easily withdraw and transfer funds.

  • As the UAN works on an online system, the employer will not be able to deduct or hold back the employee’s PF.

  • Under the system, employees can check the total PF deposited by the employer every month by registering on the EPF Member Portal using his UAN.

  • The UAN of an employee remains the same throughout his life irrespective of the number of jobs changed. Every time an employee changes a job, EPFO will allot a new member identification number (ID) which will get linked to the UAN.

How To Know UAN Number?

How To Get UAN Number – Follow these steps to find out your UAN:

  1. Visit

  2. Click ‘Know Your UAN Status’ option.

  3. You will get three options to find your UAN – UAN by PF member ID, Aadhaar, or PAN. Choose any of the three options.

  4. Enter all the details such as Name, Date of Birth, Registered Mobile Number, Registered Email Address, and Captcha.

  5. Select ‘Get Authorization Pin’ option.

  6. You will receive an OTP from EPFO on your registered mobile number.

  7. Enter the OTP on the EPFO website.

  8. Select ‘Validate OTP and get UAN’ button.

  9. You will get your UAN through an SMS on your registered mobile number.

Members with an active UAN can check their latest PF contribution and balance with EPFO by sending an SMS “EPFOHO UAN” to 7738299899 from the registered mobile number. This facility is available in English (default) and Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali.
